Soooo, I’m an online shopper all year long. Amazon boxes appear on my doorstep more often than I’d care to admit. This time of year though…I couldn’t be happier for my Amazon Prime Membership! I have put together this 2018 Gift Ideas list for Santa for the boys and maybe me. Shhhh…don’t tell anyone! I’ll be adding to the list too, so check back!

My boys love to build things – blocks, legos, etc. But they also love toys that they can interact with in some way – like remote control things. Also, we’re all about dinosaurs right now.) Here are some ideas for boys like mine – Dinosaurs and Vehicles. We have both of these dinosaur toys and they are well-loved!
With video games and tablets the “thing” now, we don’t play as many games that come in a box. I like strategy games for my boys. You know, games that make them use their noggins like Ticket to Ride, Blokus, Checkers/Chess/Backgammon, and Battleship.
Science and STEAM Ideas:
We love Science things – activities and books galore. (Stay tuned for an upcoming post about subscription boxes (Kid and Mama Approved!) that we looooooveee!!!)
We are readers (see related posts for more reading related stuff!). We read above grade level, so it’s sometimes tricky to find suitable subject matters, but here are some books/series’ my boys like.
(Also, if you haven’t checked out the I See Me! Books – I get them for my boys every year – Christmas and Birthday – and we read them until we know them by heart! They love reading a story starring themselves! (And Bonus! They are on EBATES!)
I’ve been wanting to start Reading Harry Potter to the boys – I know they will love them! I just saw this collection of Books 1-3 that are Illustrated!
And here’s a quick variety of kid books I put together last year I think:
Random House/Home Ideas:
I’ve been wanting an Air Fryer ever since I got my Instant Pot (which I <3). And here are a few other random things that have been recommended to me by more than one person that I’ve got my eye on – a lightweight cordless vacuum, an InStyler to dry and curl (hahahahaha) my hair, and a weighted blanket! Deals are darn good right now, too!
Books for Meeeeee:
Like I said – we are readers. I have been “reading” via Audible quite a bit lately, but I still love a paper book. I resisted listening to audiobooks for a long time, but I have come to love it (and I listen on 1.25x or 1.5x speed! More books!) I love memoirs, self-empowerment/live-in-the-now/go-get-your-dreams books, and Chick Lit.
For DIYers Like Me – Crafts, Home, etc:
Crafts. Sigh. I wish I had more time to do them, but I’ve been doing some more lately and loving it, so now I neeeeeeed more toooools. :-). I’ve also started collecting yard tools for some reason – I just got a pressure washer and a hedge trimmer! So these are things I’m eyeing right now – a metal stamping kit, a heat press, a new Cricut and a cordless air blower!
Personal Care Products I Love:
Some of my favorite products are listed below, just for fun! Morrocan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, Neutrogena Makeup Remover wipes, and Chai Tea – yum!
More Ideas to Come!
I will definitely add to this list, but it’s a start! I am also working on a list of things that have been big hits in years past for my boys. I’ll pop a link to that here when it’s up!
I certainly know that this season is not about “the stuff”. I went pretty minimalist for the boys’ birthdays this year and they were beside themselves, and not at all overwhelmed with so much stuff! So I’m planning that for Christmas too.
Four Gift Rule…or Six maybe?
I like the four gift rule: Something you want, Something you need, Something to Wear, Something to Read.
I’m thinking of adding to that something homemade and someplace to go…but I’m not too far down that path yet. I’ll update as I go on what I come up with for those things. (Don’t you love how I think I have so much time to do all this updating!? LOL In my defense, I am really trying to get consistent about writing my blog, so whatever works! :-))
ANYWAY – here’s a start of some 2018 Gift Ideas – at least for some 6-year-old boys or a mama you know!
